Religious research would open up new shrines, temples, deities, and priesthood structures that give your society benefits for worshiping specific gods. The Royal track could include things that increase your prestige as pharaoh, from a nicer palace and better accouterments for your character to self-glorifying statues and new edicts. In the case of residential, you'd be finding new ways to keep your citizens protected and happy in their homes like increasing comfort through heat-insulated exteriors, new designs for better homes that can fit more population, decorative options that are expensive but add happiness, etc.Ĭivic would present you with designs for new buildings like a police force, fire fighters, dentists, doctors, farms, supply houses, granaries, bakers, schools, quarries, entertainers, and so on. ![]() In each case, you'd employ scribes and engineers to study each track of research focused on some particular branch. It reminds me of the old Civ games where you'd see a palace / throne room that goes from looking super primitive to extremely ornate. The idea of displaying your story through hieroglyphs is fantastic. I also loved Children of the Nile and get so bummed that we don't see this genre explored further. This is so cool! City builders are my favorite games and Pharaoh is amongst the best ever made. ![]()
